The session in order

How a motion works

Almost every motion follows the same four moves:

1 · THE CHAIR

Recommends the motion and opens the floor: “Are there any motions on the floor?”

2 · A DELEGATE

Raises the placard, is chosen and says: “My delegation makes a motion to …”

3 · TIME & SECOND

For timed motions the Chair asks for how much time; then asks who seconds the motion.

4 · THE VOTE

“All those in favor? Against?” Delegates raise their placards and the Chair announces the result.
